Xiaomi's new Redmi Note 2 comes with an 8 core processor and MIUI7 for only $120

Xiaomi made waves last year with the big screened Redmi Note and this year, the company is replicating that success by announcing the successor to the popular 5.5" Xiaomi device. Called the Redmi Note 2, this new android phone from Xiaomi comes with even better specifications to please the crowd.

Just as expected, the Redmi Note 2 does not come with a microSD card slot
At it's core the new Redmi Note 2 is powered by Mediatek's flagship Helio X10 processor which has 8 cores in total and this is the same processor found on the HTC One M9+. The processor is accompanied by 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera, a 5MP front camera, wireless AC, dual SIM 4G, and a 3,020mAh battery. Xiaomi also took the time to upgrade the 5.5" display from a 720P on last year model to a 1080P display on this year's Redmi Note 2.


Alongside the launch of this new colorful phablet, Xiaomi is also making MIUI 7 official and the Redmi Note 2 will be the first to get it. In terms of what MIUI 7 is all about, the major upgrade in this version is that it's built from Android 5.1 Lollipop and this version also celebrates 5 awesome years of MIUI. Xiaomi will be offering the Redmi Note 2 in China for a starting price of RMB 799 (~RM 500). Besides the Redmi Note 2, there's also a higher end Redmi Note 2 Prime which comes with higher storage capacities. No official word as to when the Redmi Note 2 will arrive in Malaysia as the current ones being offered in China comes with the proprietary TD network bands
